Li’s Research Explores How Entrepreneurial Decision Logics Drive Innovation
Professor Jun Li, along with co-authors Zoe Ye, Yunjie Song, and Yiyuan Mai, recently published an article in the Journal of Small Business Management titled “Synergizing Causation and Effectuation for Innovation in Chinese New Ventures.”
The study examines how two entrepreneurial decision-making logics—causation (planning-driven approaches) and effectuation (flexible, adaptive approaches)—interact to foster innovation in Chinese new ventures. Using empirical data, the authors demonstrate that innovation is most effectively achieved when entrepreneurs strategically combine both approaches. The research also underscores the importance of boundary-spanning behaviors and trust within founding teams.
The Journal of Small Business Management is the official journal of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB), circulated in 60 countries and recognized as a leading publication in small business research.
